Merkur HD

This razor is one of the most recommend that you can find due to it's build quality and mild blade exposure. Speaking of build quality, the HD is built like a tank. With proper care, this razor will provide you with many years of faithful service. The weight of this razor is such that you really don't need to apply any pressure while shaving with it. The razor does all of the work for you. Another thing to note about the 34C is that the handle is fairly short. To some this might be an issue but for most wetshavers, they consider this a plus. An excellent razor for beginners or wetshaving pros alike.

You can’t really go wrong with a Merkur HD. It was the first DE Razor I tried since it came so highly recommended on the shaving forums. Prior to that, I had been using various Mach 3′s and Fusion razors that were giving me terrible razor bumps/irritation on my neck. After some trial and error with my technique + finding the best blades for my skin type, I no longer get those shaving bumps.
I have been using my HD now for about 3 years, some of the finishing has come off of the handle but that is purely a cosmetic thing. The razor still performs flawlessly and I would still recommend it. Also recommend Feather blades if you want the ultimate combo.
